My name is Dana W. Everett and I started baking when I was 3. My mom would drop me off during the day at my Grandmother house to babysit me. She lived in a brownstone type home with my 2 other great aunts. I would sneak up to my Aunty Ann's apartment upstairs and she would welcome me in with open arms. Half way up the stairs you could smell such amazing smells. My aunt had a huge island in the middle of her kitchen and she would sit me up on the butcher block island and teach me to bake, we would bake all day. She would let me roll dough, mix cake batter, sprinkle powder sugar. I would turn the crank on her pasta maker to make home made noodles or sausage. These memories are embedded in my brain, along with the wonderful smells that are locked deep in my heart and will always bring back such good memories of my Aunty Ann's home.

When I was old enough to start baking for myself I enjoyed trying to mimic those recipes never quite getting it as good as my Aunty Ann, but still enjoyed trying. When I had a son of my own I loved the look on his little face when I would make him cookies or I would volunteer to make his class a cake. I could see the pride in him when I would walk in with a Halloween grave yard for his 3rd grade class or his Christopher Columbus landing on Plymouth rock cake for his 6th grade class and I was hooked. I played around with whatever I could find and enjoyed this for many years.

In 2008 my husband returned from his 3rd tour over seas and had discovered some health problems he was having from a mortar attack previously, so in an attempt to find something that was relaxing that we could enjoy together I offered a cake decorating class. He objected at first and went kicking and screaming. Once there he discovered his gift for decoration, (he makes the most beautiful buttercream roses and his homemade buttercream icing is to die for) the class was so relaxing that he agreed to take level II then III and so on and so on.

We started baking cakes for friends and co workers and fast forward 3+ years later and we are still making cakes and enjoying every minute of it. Hopefully we have many many more years of cake baking and decorating yet to come so thanks for stopping by to read a little bit about where The Little Pink Bakery came from.

See you soon!!
